The secret to being today’s Wonder Woman
Women like Erin are a rare species. And truth be told, there is no secret. It is quite simple, really. Erin works hard and refuses to limit herself and her potential. She believes that she can, and because of her mindset, she will. If you ever wonder what the secrets are to getting what you want out of life, the answer will always be the same; hard work.
Nothing in life comes easy, if you want something, you are going to have to work for it.
Erin doesn’t make excuses for herself. She works hard. She takes care of her family. She is a powerful example for not only mothers, but all women… This is what it looks like when you stop making excuses for yourself, and just do it.

Who is Erin Goyer?
I’m a little teapot short and stout. For real. Other than that, I’m a hard working entrepreneur who is in the pursuit of a hot bod despite becoming a new mommy to a beautiful little girl just 9 short months ago.
What made you want to start your fitness journey?
I crave strength. Mentally and physically. But becoming a mom is the hardest thing I have ever done. Both my mind and body were warped and exhausted. It was so frustrating to me to suddenly be so unrecognizable to myself. I knew I was a strong woman capable of anything (I mean c’mon, I grew an entire human and then pushed it out into the world) but I needed to prove it to myself. I felt like I owed it to myself and my daughter to begin a journey that would help me embody the strong woman I knew I was capable of being.
“It was so frustrating to me to suddenly be so unrecognizable to myself.”
What have been the biggest obstacles getting started?
Breaking old/bad habits is by far the hardest obstacle for me. I, like so many others, have always struggled with my weight and would often under eat in attempt to lose weight and then binge as a result of calorie deprivation. This constant yo-yoing has been so detrimental to my metabolism and relationship with food. I had become such a mindless eater. So relearning the way I should eat and understanding that food is fuel and not just something you do recreationally when you hang out with family and friends has been challenging for me.
Why did you choose to work with Angie Marie as your coach?
I follow hundreds of fitness influencers on Instagram. I scroll past fitness coach after fitness coach all day every day. But when I came across Angie and began following her on snap chat I was just so drawn to her realness. Not only was she motivating but she was just anti-bullshit. And that’s just something I respect. I’m a busy woman. I don’t have time to waste. I knew if I wanted to commit to a program it would have to be with someone who was going to be honest with me and someone I could be honest with. I had bought a few plans before but they were plans that fitness “coaches” basically just mass emailed to hundreds of people to make quick cash. I wanted to work with someone who was genuinely interested in my success, who would share their knowledge with me, set expectations for me, and genuinely be pissed if I didn’t hold up my end of the bargain. That is exactly what I found with Angie. Just a few days after finding Angie/Okon fitness on Instagram I signed up to be one of her VIP clients. Best decision ever. I know I have a long way to go and a lot of work to put in to get where I want to be but since I’ve started working with Angie I’ve finally started to believe that my goal body is actually possible for me.
Being a New Mommy, what have been some of the struggles you have dealt with?
Have those around you been supportive?
As a new mom, I am already juggling so many new things in my life. Mixing in the commitment of a new fitness adventure has been just down right crazy at some points, haha. Every new commitment I make in my life now, means that I am subtracting from the time I get to commit to my daughter and family. That’s a hard pill to swallow sometimes. There are a lot of days where I have to choose between things like, getting home to do the laundry or getting to the gym. So needless to say, my house has been really messy these last 6 weeks, haha. It would definitely be easier on both of us to not coordinate child care, not go the the gym, not meal prep, and just eat frozen pizza for dinner, etc.. WAY EASIER. But would I be proud to tell my daughter that I am who I am because I did what was easiest? Definitely not. The support from those around me is minimal, unfortunately. But I’ve become understanding of that in the last few weeks. Would their support be nice? Yes. But it’s truly not vital for my success. I made this commitment and it’s my responsibility to follow through. I don’t plan on using my daughter or anyone else as an excuse to not be successful.
“I don’t plan on using my daughter or anyone else as an excuse to not be successful.”
What is some advice you have for someone who is just getting started?
I’m learning that consistency is more important than perfection. If you slip up or miss a work out don’t beat yourself up over it too much. Learn from it and keep pushing forward. This journey is about way more than just fitness, you truly learn so much about who you are and your character. One day of a perfect diet/workouts will not get you your dream body just like one day of a terrible diet/not working out will not make you obese. It’s what you chose to do consistently that gives you results, good or bad. Consistent effort is the key to your success, in anything really.
“This journey is about way more than just fitness, you truly learn so much about who you are and your character.”
Do you have any mottos or sayings that you live by everyday?
What really drives me is thinking about what I want to be defined as. An excuse maker? Lazy? Someone that quit? Or .. Discipline. Hard-working. Strong. Sometimes during hard workout I literately just keep telling myself that I am a champion, until I believe it. Corny. I know. But I truly believe there is so much power in how you choose to speak to yourself.
“I am a champion.”
