I think a lot about how I can bring value to my community and how I can help you all grow in fitness and personally. I think one of the biggest struggles people have is understanding how to get started. Or maybe what tools to use to help you succeed. One of my favorite sayings that I live by is “if you fail to plan you plan to fail.” What this means, is that if you don’t plan out your workouts, or plan out what you will eat, you will likely not stick to it.
This is true of most things. I also believe it is important to equip yourself which is part of the planning phase. Imagine if a carpenter were planning on building a cabinet but came without any tools or any lumber. This would be ill-advised. The same goes with fitness. If you need to be eating certain foods, or follow a certain fitness regimen, you may find yourself missing out on the basic essentials for success that could make or break how well you do.
The following tools are all tools I use on a regular basis to help me towards the Olympia stage and the tools that have helped fuel me toward continuing to strive toward my fitness goals.
1. NutriBullet
The first tool I use is the NutriBullet. This is one of the best tools to make a shake quickly and efficiently, while also being one of the easiest blenders to clean out quickly. One of the main reasons I like using this product is the ease of use in every aspect of using it. Trust me, when you’re blending your first shake with your NutriBullet you will definitely be able to tell the difference quickly.
2. Etekcity Digital Body Weight Scale
This is a must have when monitoring your progress for fitness. This is one of the most important items on this list. Most coaches require their clients to check their weight at the exact same time of each week so that they can closely monitor where they are at and they don’t see a fluctuation in the weight. Imagine if you just ate a huge dinner and jumped on the scale, versus going on the scale right after you woke up without eating. This is why this scale is important.
3. Taylor Food Scale
When monitoring your macros, your calories, or each meal’s specific amounts, you need a foolproof way to do that. This is where this food scale comes in and saves the day. It is simply the easiest way to not only measure your food but also to ensure you are eating the right amounts throughout the day. It is battery powered so you could actually bring along with you if you have to prep somewhere outside of home. The food scale is worth it!
4. Aroma Rice Cooker — Large
Oh how easy it is to cook rice with minimal effort now that we have Aroma Rice Cookers in our back pocket. These are incredible to use where you simply just have to add rice and water and turn it on. It’s that simple and it saves you a ton of time because it truly is a set it and forget method. Once it beeps you can take the rice out and put it in your food prep.
5. Mueller Spiralizer
This Spiralizer is a life saver. I have never used another one that’s better. If you’re trying to make your veggies more interesting or just trying to make some wonderful zucchini pasta, it’s a smart decision.
6. Hamilton Beach Crock Pot
This is one of my favorites. You can do so much with a cooking tool like this. You’re able to fill it with chicken or another lean meat and let it slow roast for a long time. This way you will get a rich, tender, and tasty lean meat to use for your meal prep. I usually use my Flavor God seasoning, which you can’t really go wrong using several kinds. My favorites are the Dynamite Seasoning, and Ranch Seasoning. Also the pizza one is good because I love pizza.
7. Body Tape Measure
This is one of the most important ways to monitor your progress. Just knowing your weight will not tell you much. I have seen clients lose 20 pounds and see a major difference but I have also seen clients only lose a few pounds and see a major difference. The biggest factor is to see a change in body fat percentage. And another way to monitor the changes to your body is a good body tape measure. There is a great deal for a combo on Amazon for both the body tape measure and the scale. You’re welcome
8. Fit Mark Shield Bag
I use my FitMark Shield Bag every single day. Whether you are intensely prepping or are just trying to maintain a regular diet, this is a true essential to making sure you stick to your original plan. This bag includes three meal prep containers that are BPA-Free as well as room for your shaker cup and extra items like fruit or yogurt cups. It’s an excellent investment to help you stay on your planned meals. Why is this very important? 80% of your results will come from your diet, don’t leave it up to your emotions to decide. Plan to succeed!
9. Fit Mark Tupperware
Guess what? If you buy the FitMark Shield Bag, you get 3 BPA-Free Tupperware containers already! It’s a perfect situation, really. But if you already have a prep bag, feel free to get the four pack!
10. Blender Bottle Shaker Cup
Last but not least, your essential sidekick that can be used for your protein after (or before) workouts, your BCAA fill-ups, or even your water bottle, is the Blender Bottle ProStak System. It lets you store your protein in the bottom before you use it, so you can just add the protein whenever you need to and refill each morning at home.
I worked with my team to put together a quick list of some of the most common foods so you are able to reference this as you are focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Simple. Easy. Effective.
